Steering Stem Nut + bearing adjustment

Hi, It seems to me that the steering stem nut is 29mm - this seems a strange size, could anyone confirm pls before I waste money buying the wrong socket... Also, what did those of you who've adjusted the bearings use to tweak the adjusting and lock nuts? I was thinking about using a hammer and drift...

Spacers

Revolution warn of tankslappers if using a rear shock spacer with the standard front forks. So beware!

Personally if I wanted sharper steering I'd buy a sportier bike. Simple as that.

Diablos

Diablos give a nice feel and plenty of grip but my Storm developed front pattering under hard braking which I never had with my OE Dunlops (which were 204s I think). Nothing else was changed apart from the tyres. Tinkering with fork oil level has improved it but it's never fully gone away so I will ...

Agree - Pirelli Diablos are gr8!

Don't bother with the Corsas unless you are tracking the bike or are very heavy handed with the bike on it's side - just not worth it. BFM do Diablos for 160 a pair, delivered. See MCN.

Mushrooms

Thanks for the comments..was put off the Rhencullen ones because they wanted 11 pounds for P&P - ridiculous. ART do some which are reasonably priced, but I'm not too sure about the strength of the brackets, look a bit dodgy. TBH I don't know what to go for, all I know is I don't want to hack the...

Crash Mushrooms

Anyone got any experience with these? Was thinking of buying a set from Busters, they list two types 'TES' and 'Lucas'. Anyone fitted either type? If not what do u recomend? Some people seem to be against these things alltogether, because of transferring crash impact to the frame/engine, but I'm goi...

Pads

I use EBC HH pads with no complaints and have heard that carbon Lorraine are good too.

With braided lines and a pad upgrade the brakes have enough power for most mortals.

Rim Sizes

Hello,

Easy question - can someone tell me the wheel rim sizes on a standard 'Storm. Crazily the owners' manual doesn't seem to give it and the bike is a few miles away at the moment so not so easy to pop and have a look!

Cheers!

Al, Buster's accessories are doing 207RRs for 140 a pair (http://www.busters-accessories.co.uk). I ordered some and they arrived the next day. Failing that I can't see you going wrong with the Z3s. Obviously a more sport-touring tyre rather than out-and-out sport tyre like the 207RR, but grippy enou...

Cutout at Idle

I know this is an old chestnut but has anyone ever cured it? There was a carb mod which involved rerouting a breather pipe but this only applies to the bike cutting out under braking which isn't the case with mine, it will cut out any time it is idling. I have raised the idle speed to get them pisto...
