Re: Forks

Cheers MacV2.

That's pretty much what I tried, but the rubber boots were in the way. Sounds like the bendy clip things are in the wrong place or something out of place.

Will persevere.

Re: Tickover issues/running help

Air filter is new. Plugs pretty new too and I've replaced all the fluids.

Will try new fuel and a carb clean.

Tickover issues/running help

It's been ages since I did anything on my project bike, but I'm now getting round to finishing it. Once I sort the shock arm out. Before I took the back end apart I managed to start her up after about 3 years idle. She seemed to run smoothly enough but with a very low tickover, well under 1000rpm. T...

Re: Forks

Is a fork service an easy(ish) DIY job? Springy bits all sound a bit too vital to be playing with at home. Anyone got any tips for getting the fairing back on? My bike came with it removed and having tried a couple of time I've given up since I've got plenty to do before I need to fit it. The proble...

Re: Swing arm linkage help needed

No joy after much soaking in WD40 and some 'gentle persuasion', so I took it to my local garage. Sorted in half an hour.

When they went, they went with a bang apparently, so there's no way I'd have got them out at home.

Back on the bike this weekend hopefully.

Re: Swing arm linkage help needed

So I should be able to drift both bearings out the same side? I wouldn't do that, but there's nothing to stop the bearings moving too far towards the middle. Just so I'm clear. I'll give them a good soaking in WD40 and see what happens. The bolt was easy to get out compared with some I've read about...

Swing arm linkage help needed

Got the linkage off pretty easily, but how do I get the needle bearings out without the proper tool? They're frozen in a bit and it looks like there's a stop that prevents the two bearings being pressed in too far. So I can't get a drift in. Anyone got any tips? Couldn't find anything in the link se...

Re: Track days 2015.....

Sounds great. Will need to look out for a trailer though as my Storm won't be road legal until June. It's on a Q-plate and it turns out it's bloody expensive for the first year. Had quotes close to £500. Once I've had it a full twelve months they go down to about £150. On the plus side t...

Re: go pro look alike 2

Cheapest I'd go is the Contour HD or the Drift 1080p cameras that start about £150. Personally I can't rate the Drift range high enough. I have two Drift Ghost HD cameras and a new Drift Ghost S. Fantastic. Also don't believe the hype of go-pro's. I'd agree. The resolution on the Staples one is pre...

Thought so. Sounded great when I read about it. Might be a birthday treat for myself next year.

Re: getting into bike racing

Aren't there race experience weekends you can buy with MZ or TZR 250s? I'm sure I've seen features in mags hailing them as top fun.

Re: Track days 2015.....

I'll be up for one or two, if you don't mind a stranger.

I did a 1000 mile roadtrip last year taking in Cadwell and Snetterton. Would be good to re-enact that.

Donington and Oulton are both close to me too.

Brilliant, now all you've got to do is sort the idiot out that put it in there in the first place!
Ha ha. Some how I don't think that's going to be as easy to fix.

Sorted all the little jobs out that meant I fill her oil and coolant and see if she runs. And she does :D :D .
