stoner corner is unreal, how he power slides it at 160 is crazy, you gotta respect the talent, shame he doesn't seem mentally strong enough to carry on, other things mean more to him at this point in his life, i hope he doesn't regret his retirement....

Your ambition outweighs your talent
  Brilliant.

Just watched the whole vid, what an incredible rider  Interesting how a lot of world champions in these kind of sports don't come from a privileged background and start with pretty much nothing.

This said to an eight times world champion :?:

I really like stoner, but that comment was just pathetic.

A great rider and worthy champion though.

Yeh but that's competitive sportsman for you. They all do it, it's the same with F1 I've seen a few heated moments there with drivers having words with another over an incident. At least motor sports are not as bad as football.

I just dont understand it , he,s at the top of his game and could ask for any amounts of zeros to be put on his salary cheque but decides to go.
It will sad loss to gp when he,s no longer there. Watching it now wont be the same, I know we have 2 british riders in it next year but where can they get with low grade bikes and funding all the time. Honda should have snapped karl up for stoners bike. Then we would have had some sparks flying .

He's been at it a long time, devoted his life to the sport,

Honda offered him 10 Million to stay and race for 2013 he even turned that down,

i think the nail in the coffin for MotoGP for him was the loss of Simoncelli stoner looked absolutely torn to bits added together with the birth of his first child and the fact he's a two time premier class champion was enough for him to call it a day.

he's made no secret of his disgust at the way the sport is progressing (CRT, talks of restricted bikes from 2013 / 14 etc) he is one of the best and wants to rightly race on the best bikes in the world,

Any step back from full unrestricted prototype racing is a big no no for Stoner,

Looks like he is indeed a bit ninja in the V8 Supercars and hope if thats his chosen path he dominates that too

This was not pathetic by any means, Rossi had been discrediting stoner saying its not all about him and that he was not the special one it was the ducati and the electronics etc,

he slated stoner when he was ill too,

This was Stoners moment when the Ducati that Valentino thought was going to be a piece of cake to ride became a two year living nightmare!

It was at this moment Stoner was proven to be that bit more special than the rest of field, the bike Rossi thought that if stoner can win and ride this then so can i suddenly left him humiliated

And i remember when that JB was quoted as saying give me 5 mins with that bike and ill have it sorted, two years down the line and JB has still not sorted it, Rossi hasn't won a race on the heap and has called it day longing for the sweat handling M1 once again, Yamaha have done just fine with out JB as chief, i imagine they are in no rush for him back but Rossi most definitely has it down as a provision

Not taking anything away from Rossi he too is a phenomenal rider able to push year after year and hes still got the fire in his belly, but it was good to see stoner vindicated and shown to be the talent that he is / was

Well said Seb, Stoner was able to consistently put the duc on the podium when other duc riders could only just broach the top ten. Rossi has floundered on the duc, only just beating Nicky Hayden and consistently being beaten by privateers. It seems that Rossi is good on bikes that suit him whereas stoner could ride a bike with square wheels and still be competative.
As for Stoner retiring, i'll be sad to see him go, but he's been at it since he was a nipper and he says it's changed so much that he doesn't enjoy it any more, surely that is the best point to quit any job. He's financialy secure so why bother doing something you don't enjoy?
