Can I get rid of diaphram in fuel tap ?

I have a bloody great split in my diaphram, (good job its not the wife's)

Can I still use bike without it?? or will it leak fuel all over the place ??

HELP !!!!!!

Is It leaking Now?
If not you might get away with it for a bit. The carbs will start to overflow if the floats can't stem the flow so you will soon find out if you need a new diaphram

Or you could just run it untill you use up all the fuel each night. Good excuse for plenty of evening blasts

I rekon the diaphram is there to shut off the tap when the bike is not running, right?

So why removing the rubber would be any different than having an old style tap (with ON, OFF and RES) and leaving it all the time on ON (like we all did anyway...)?

Is there something I'm missing here?

Removed offending diaphram, replaced with 50p "0" ring, re-assembled. Joined the two "spigots" at rear of tap with 2" of hose, (one is vacumn in, the other is breather)

Lo and behold.........it leaks...cos I forgot to put the "other half" of the diaphram back inbetween the two halves of the tap.

Re-fit again...lo and behold, no leaks.

Fully cured the problem of misfire as well !!!

I love it when a plan comes together,

and yes, it is only a "safety" cut out for the fuel.
