Billet CCT

Post by Rider on a Storm »

Hi guys n gals, I have to change out my ccts and from advice I'm getting manuals is the way to go. Have been looking at pics and they look simple enough to make. I am a QA in a large hydraulic actuator manufacturing company. We have some very clever cnc operators who could make these no prob.
We have in production a gland that is the same shape as the billet but larger so machining this part would be easy once I have the gasket as a template, or if someone had an old tensioner they would send I could use it as a template. I would like to give it a go and get a couple of samples made but I would need the average length of the tensioning bolt, it looks like a M8 or M10 anyone know? if it is sucessful it could be of benifit to members as price could be much lower than ones advertised, let me have you feedback, tks.

You do not have to say anything. But it may harm your defence if you do not mention when posting something which you later rely on in quote. Anything you do say may be ripped to sh*t.

IMHO you don't need to worry about the tensile strength of the bolt, they only tighten a bit over hand tight.
Also it's running through an aluminium body, the aluminium will be weaker than any steel bolt.

But needs a SS bolt, (or plated), definitely, or there'll be corrosion issues.

Finer pitch thread would be an advantage, suggest 1.25 at least, 1.0 would be better.

You're going to be popular.....

I'm getting a bit nervous too, so I'd definately be interested in a pair.

Rite, guys cant start until I get a least one old cct, if someone has one one can they send it to me, if it speeds things up someone could copy the outline of a gasket for the profile and measure the id of the holes(copy these when drawing but be sure to give me the exact measurements of the holes), put this on the drawing and send it to me as an attachment

The law of supply and demand holds as true as ever, and I've a rebuild to finance.
You don't ask, you don't get.

Actually, if someone gives me a lathe I'll make them a pair FOC. Now, how's that for an offer?

So, on a different subject, anyone interested in some old bald tyres?

They'll keep your boat from scraping on the jetty, offers on a postcard to....... :tumbleweed:
