Hey!
Does anyone know if the front forks from a 1999 VFR 800 fits the 1997 VTR? They're both 41mm, but I'm not sure what other things are important

I just compared here. The "Front wheel travel" is that the damper hight?
VTR - VFR forks
Re: VTR - VFR forks
They'll fit but IIRC they don't have the adjustability of VTR forks. VFR folk sometimes replace their forks with VTR ones as an upgrade. And VTR forks as stock are known for their squidgeeness so fitting VFR forks would be quite a downgrade.

Look to get a pair of VTR forks from ebay £100-£200 and think about getting them 'Rogered' > http://www.vtr1000.org/phpBB3/viewtopic.php?f=7&t=32480

It may be that your whole purpose in life is simply to serve as a warning to others.

That's what I expected, so thanx for confirming it ;) I've searched ebay a lot, but came over a pair of VFR-forks nearby, but now I will go back to ebay! Re: VTR - VFR forks
Funnily enough, I have VTR forks on my 1999 VFR800.NY4600 wrote:Hey!

The VFR lowers are incompatible with the VTR, completely different brake mounts and different mudguard mounts.
The uppers are completely swappable, they might be a few mm different but not enough to be a deal breaker.
As stated VFR forks lack the rebound adjusters that the VTR has, but the rest of the cartridge/pistons/shims are identical. The stock springs are a different length and have different length spacers, but neither are any good (IMO).
If you had some lightly bent VTR forks, and some unbent VFR forks, you can easily transplant parts to get a decent set of VTR forks.

Re: VTR - VFR forks
I have not checked them yet, but it looks like I can get away with new pipes... Don't know if the damper inside is a bit bent to, but the pipes aren't too banana
