Made a big rooky mistake please help

Post by scooke »

Hi guys right my problem is this, my mates been going on about riding along and hitting the kill switch and turning it on to create a backfire which I never heard of but tried it first time nothing second time heard it backfire straight after I heard a rattling noise then felt like it was running on one cylinder then conked out. After that put it in neutal tried to fire it up i heard the starter relay or solenoid clicking but lights dim but that's it. What have a STUPIDLY possibly done?

I know I'm guna get some grief for this so crack on.

Hi lloydie no mate haven't got around to doing them yet. What's the possible reason for this happening apart from me doing that kill switch thing.

You could rebuild it, new head or engine. Or sell it on cheap with a knackered engine and buy another, and do the CCT's

If the CCT has let go then with any luck just head off, replace bent valves, new gasket, rebuild and a set of manual CCTs. Couple of hundred should see you good for all that. Depends where you are located. Tony Mon is the man down south to get the work done, if you don`t feel up to doing it yourself.

you might be lucky ,when mine went it did no damage to valves/pistons. I just got manuals fitted and 13,000 later still going strong

Don't panic!
Before you go into full cct failure mode (which is no biggie anyway) check the usuals- does it have a spark, is there fuel flowing?
Where are you in the UK?
It's not falling off, it's an upgrade opportunity.
