Where to mount a camera?

Post by Mike TW9 »

As I mentioned, I've got a new action camera and wanted to try it out riding the storm, but can't work out how best to mount it. It came with fixings for a cycle helmet, handlebar and sticky pad, but there's nowhere obvious to put it and am tending towards mounting it on the (flip top) helmet, but can't work that one out either.

So in the meantime I removed it from it's waterproof case and placed it inside my visor just below my right eye. Ok, it could disfigure you for life in a crash, and you can't really open the visor, but it did work a treat.

I tried this, but at high speed the mirror wobbles to much.

I also tried it lower down on the fairing, it stuck really well, but was awkward to turn on and off.

Right above the side light is the best place I've found to stick one

How about the ladies' shower/dressing room at the gym?

You may mock, but at least you won't get busted for speeding and riding like an butt with your own footage.
It's not falling off, it's an upgrade opportunity.

I thought Marty had a huge camera, but upon close inspection it was a topbox...

you are correct matt, the camera itself was crap, and so I did wing it down the road in frustration....
it was soon picked up by a local walking down the road....
it only cost £15 so I didn't expect it to be any good, buy cheap buy twice....
