Micron Exhaust
I have just bought two Micron silencers and link pipes from Ebay. Any advice and help with fitting would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks

Re: Micron Exhaust
put everything on loose to start. don't tighten anything up to start. Are you using original headers? if so make sure their ok and clean the ends up first. Free off all the clamps. Have you got the new thick gaskets to put over the link pipe ends or don't they have any?.
missing the noise, not the vibes. However never say never!

Essex is a big county.....
it's been said before, fit it loosely and then tighten everything up from front to back.

HEY YOU GUYS!!!!!!
Re: Micron Exhaust
My top tip is....
Don't go near your exhausts until you have bought some new MIKALOR W4 Stainless Steel Hose Clamps.
I can't remember the size required sorry
Also, Don't be tempted with the W2 clamps they have a mild steel bolt that rusts
One last thing take care of the "tube" gaskets, they are fragile at best

Re: Micron Exhaust
+1 on Fully SS Mikalor W4s
IIRC from my old Microns they didn't use graphite gaskets in the connection between the link pipes onto the header system. I think they just slotted on and clamped up tight with the new clamps being slightly smaller diameter than OEM.
See what happens when you get the old exhausts off and and loosely fit the new rorty cans.

I also have microns for some reference point
Re: Micron Exhaust
Just won some of these cans on eBay and I need to buy straps & clamps and was wondering;
1. Are the exhaust straps central or offset (100mm cans)?
2. What diameter clamps are needed, these fit inside not over the down pipe?
I have measured the down pipe but I would apprreciate a second opinion....

Re: Micron Exhaust
Every make of can is different so you'll have to measure them .0
Re: Micron Exhaust
I will have to wait for the cans to arrive, but they are the same Micron ones as in the original post.
Was hoping to find out if the straps need to be offset - so I can buy some ready for when the cans arrive.

Re: Micron Exhaust
If you don't need gaskets then some clear gasket sealant works a treat. Most standard slipons are 50.9mm, I do know that Scropions are 51.9mm just to be awkward so clamps of 47-53 should work
Re: Micron Exhaust
When I fitted the silencers I found the straps on the new mikalor clamps I bought weren't quite wide enough and caused a slight leak. I ended up cleaning the ones already on and they seemed to work. I also found the bike ran quite rough at slow speeds, re jetting needed I think so although they sound nice I have in fact reverted to standard.
