Seriously before you blame the battery and fry another one. The so called finned R/R you fitted was not a cheap Chinese one off the bay. If so that could still be your root cause when it heats up.

If you don't need gaskets then some clear gasket sealant works a treat. Most standard slipons are 50.9mm, I do know that Scropions are 51.9mm just to be awkward so clamps of 47-53 should work
