Re: going to france?

borrowed from another site!! :x I have just returned from a very pleasant holiday in France & Switzerland (in a car, but the pricipal is the same). On the way back, just after the Peage just before traversing Rheims, I was overtaken & pulled over by a Gendarmerie car. I was a good 15mph bel...

Ah I see Timbo. These days that means 20% vision in left eye and 20% right eye too so it makes sense ha ha I agree. Each to their own. I just love the look of that thing but couldn't do it justice riding wise!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Just about anyone could do the KTM justice, it's totally unintimidatin...

Wealth Warning, KTM RC8!!

DON'T go for a test ride on the RC8 unless you have, or can beg, borrow or steal £10.75K, you WILL want one. Just back from my ride along 50ish miles of sinuous and bumpy ex trunk road in sunny Devon and the bike is as good to ride as the magazine write ups say. Makes the Falco feel like a slow, un...

Got my test ride of the RC8 booked for tomorrow (tuesday). No bother at all with the Exeter KTM dealer, Albion M/Cs. While I was there booking, a guy from Wales bought the demo bike for collection in six weeks! Presumably this is when their new demo bike and the pre ordered bikes come in. All his ma...

Mega Bargains at Lidl!

Just been to Lidl, came out with two really good deals, 30% more light zenon headlight bulbs £3.99/pair including 4 other bulbs! Choose your flavour H1 H4 or H7 all the same price. (pretty sure the VTR takes H4) Inexpensive upgrade, fairly sure you won't get even standard H4s that cheap, H1/7s tend...

Good write up Goffy, enjoyed reading that. Only thing i could say about the Falco is it looks like a Storm :) or vice versa. The Falco is almost a dead ringer for the TLR Suzuki, particularly at first glance, I reckon Aprilia gave it a good hard looking at before they sat down with a large, blank s...

I have accidentally ended up with both a Falco and a VTR in my garage. The VTR is a 1997 in black with 23000 miles and the Falco is a near immaculate 2000 with 13000miles. As an overall riding experience they are very similar (surprise :D ) The Honda is a much more easy going ride, everything is sof...

Seems to be a bit of a habitual "oversight" at the DVLA. We got done for £30 for not re SORN ing a 125 last year, no reminder was recieved, a real micky take, tax on a 125 is about half the fine! I don't think we have EVER got a SORN reminder, who reckons the DVLA has discovered a nice li...

The 1st to 2nd change is clunky on most bikes, it's because there is a huge change in ratio between the two gears, about 30% in fact. The ratios get closer and closer as you go through the gears, by the time you go from 5 to 6 the ratio change may only be 5%. Also the bike has far less momentum at l...

10 year old battery, pretty much time for a new one then. My '97VTR is on it's third batt, my 2000 Falco on it's second, big Vs need strong batteries. I might even change my Optimate connectors for Powerpoles sometime, usually manage to find better things to do tho, servicing, riding etc, you know w...

Don't go spending anymoney till you have given the Optimate battery plug and socket connectors a good looking at! They are not all that good and the female pins (which are in the male connector) have a habit of spreading  My Optimate showed "weak battery" last weekend (batt 4wks old),...

I've been trying BP Ultimate Unleaded in the bike and can't say I've noticed any improvement, but that might be just coz I is old and scared :) Also been using Ultimate Diesel in my Xantia TD and the difference is amazing, smoother, enough extra torque to make accidental wheelspin a problem IN THE D...

Thanks for that Chris, at the mo' the VTR has my old Falco Yuasa battery in it! Seems to work perfectly well but it is much taller than the VTR one and it was 6 years old and past it's best when I took it out of the Aprilia. Perhaps I should have a little play about with the Falcos Westco and the VT...

Westco Battery?

I have just bought a pre crashed 97 VTR and as well as the obvious broken/bent bits it needs a new battery. I am keen to get a Westco unit as I already have one in my Falco and it's very impressive, but I have concerns that the very fancy VTR battery cover may not fit over the Westco because the bat...
