I am never surprised by the stupidity of people these days
Have you noticed when you're riding that everyone going slower than you is an idiot and everyone going faster than you is a maniac?

Same thing happened to a friend of mine.

He decided he'd spin the wheel and hold a piece of cloth against the chain to remove excess chain lube............... Off work for weeks.

I work on an orthopaedic ward and a while back we had this bloke with a huge and I mean huge gash on his right thigh down to bone and pretty mangled too...............he rested a circular saw against his leg Before it had stopped. very unprofessional but I burst out laughing...........oddly so did he. :D
it may be clever, but its not big.
