Just how fast is the storm?

Post by Hanuman »

Cant find any 0-60mph, 60-100mph statictics anywhere.

obviously will depend on who's riding it but there must be some standard specs somehwere?

anyone been down a Qtr mile on their standard storm?

Bike magazine allegedly tested one October 04 and show 0-60 as 3.94 and a top speed of 143mph.... I'm sure it's quicker than that. maybe they tested up hill into a headwind!!!

Not fast enough :(
As soon as I read about the dangers of drinking too much, I immediately gave up reading.

I'm sure the later Storms are slightly slower. Original was circa 105bhp and later ones are 95bhp - according to what I read in Bike Mag.

Having played with my gearing and fitted a sigma, I would agree with the speedo overeading by 8% on std gearing, I run 15/44 which is about 12% lower but the speedo reads about 20% high when compared to other bikes and the sigma computer.
I take no responsibility for the maths as I is thick that way but 8% seems very reasonable

Indicated speed 160 mph will most probably be 143-145 real.

But 3.98 0-60 mph? That reminds me why I am reading only Performance Bikes, and even that one - carefully.
I rememeber 3.96 0-60 figure for Hornet 600 was in FB or some other mag while quite a few owners went to drag practices placing 3.2-ish times on standard except race can bikes.
And - "newer" storm is actually a wee bit less HP and less torque in stock, thou 97 models are worn enough to be same but now...something to do with envrnmental requirements as my Honda dealer mechanic explained.

Meethinks I'll have to hook up a road angel on the bike and go for a blast on a (private motorway) for an independent top speed reading... mine will show the right side of 160 just, probably optimistic

Ahh, that would mean the indicated 155mph (on a ... ahem private 3 lane road) would be around 143ish. And that was before the Scorpions/K&N/Dynojet, so I guess it would be a little quicker now
