Fuel consumption... ?? high or normal ??

Post by NZred »

I have the 03' model (big tank) and kinda expected quite good economy from it. It runs on 91 octane unleaded and returns about 41 - 44 mpg (14.7 km/litre).
Is that about normal?? :D
(Its run in,.. about 6,000kms total now.)
Also the fuel gauge begins to flash like empty with 6 - 7 litre still in the tank.
I had a V-tec Prelude car that returned about 41 mpg and figured that the bike would do better.

Hi,
i have an 02 model, and have just converted from 4cyl to V-twin.....I ride the bike like i`ve stole it and still get approx 77-80 miles per tank ( 16 ltr tank )..
I think you need to get the dealer to check it out m8...mine`s only done 2200 miles so is only just run in also... 8O
Ride it like ya stole it !

When i`ve had the next service , i`ll see what return i get then, i`m currently runnng standard jets and settings with ART oval cans....

Yep from previous threads on the subject inc. my own, depending on state of tune & how you ride 8O anywhere between 75 & 95 miles before reserve seems to be the way it goes.

Firestorms/hawks are well known for poor fuel economy

I get about 15 miles (safely) on reserve.
Have fun & Ride Safe.

Ive dropped to around 90-95miles b4 the RLOD makes a show
Guess fitting the sticky tyres and only using it at weekends for blasts are bringing the consumption down.
