What’s happened to education? – Rant

Post by cupasoop »

Having a browse on flebay and found this example here http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/1993-YAMAHA-yzf-7 ... dZViewItem what the hell are folk being taught in schools these days? (if this guy ever went)

Now as far as I can see, this guy has and English name and lives in England so you would expect him to have English as his first language. Obviously not! I never passed my English exams at school but at least I try to make an attempt at stringing a sentence together and trying to spell words correctly. An art that this knuckle dragging Neanderthal seems to be unable to, or too lazy to, attempt. I blame text messaging and the internet.

Hands up anybody else who would feel embarrassed to put their name to the description on that advert?

I'm always in awe of the folk on here who don’t have English as their first language but can construct a sentence better that this nob head here! Well done to you all.

His bike is fiddler as well

Is it just me? :?:
Rich.

I find it staggering that anyone can be that stupid and that incompetent in the use of there own language!!!!!!!!!!

I think that he must be one of those "window lickers on there way to the special school" types.

I agree with you Cupa on the people from other countries who can speak and write better than many of the natives, it's embarassing.

and yeh..... the bike is crap

I'd say now he came off that bike a few times more than he should and hit his head - that is unbe-fecking-lievable!! Maybe he is trapped in SMS-Land or something:

Corrections:
1: cheep = cheap
2: lites = lights
3: trubel = trouble
4: vale = valve
5: bin = been (x 2)
6: as = has
7: rased = raised
8: mack = make
9: feal = feel
10: wen = when
11: ppl = people
12: wont = want
13: to = too
14: as = has
15: carat = cannot
16: relly = rilly (x2)
17: wos = was
18: strenfend = strengthened
19: tork = torque
20: coted = coated
21: ull = all
22: ull = I'll (a second meaning!)
23: reseat = receipt

Fecking space-cadet.

I blame the parents!

I suppose now I'll get slated for writing 'rilly' - that of course should read 'really' ... doh!!

Wasn't David Blunkett in charge of education at one point ?
Perhaps it's his fault as everything else seems to be at the moment.

Glad to hear it Rich

Chris.

PS. Getting back to your original rant as you put it, I think( as you mentioned) its just being pure lazy. Youngsters of today just can't be bothered, its just to much hassle :!: and that goes for most things, not just spelling. That seems to be the attitude of, not all, but most of them IMO :!:

I couldn't even bring myself to look at the picture after that! The only thing I'm ashamed of, as an Australian, is our pathetic grasp of the English language. A couple of friends of mine, both teachers, deliberately taught their daughter to say "haitch" instead of "aitch" for "H" because they knew it irritated me. When I asked why they were knowingly teaching their child the wrong thing, they told me to lighten up. Apparently "it's not important, as long as you get your point across". I was completely dumbfounded. These are the people teaching our next generation.

I asked one guy I chatted to on the net what his first language was, not even considering it could have been English... His grasp of his own language was so poor, he didn't even realise what I meant!

And I can't see it going anywhere but down from here.
