Hey my names Ant for short and I just recently joined the vtr1000 hype. I am about to do a manual cam chain tensioner change for my 98 superhawk as it started to have a slapping sound. I will update with pictures when the APE Pro Tensioner comes through. Heres my bike 😃

Parts are in. Now going to research a little more how to do the job. Pray to god my valves arent bent and fix this sh1t. If they are. Im rebuilding this V Twin.

It's easy enough to check whether you have bent valves.
While the cam covers are off, check valve clearances with a feeler gauge. If both exhausts or inlets on one cylinder are bigger gaps than spec, yes, you are likely to have bent valves.

If properly bent you can see that the affected shim buckets sit lower in the head casting than the other cylinder.
