The new Job...

So 1st day in mainly the nornal H&S intro for the first couple of hours, then spent most of the rest of the day standing around watching & asking questions.

Basicaly old used cooking oil is put in a vessel & warmed up, transfered to a 2nd tank, a catalyst is added... Methanol & Potassium Hydroxide it cooks for abit & seperates out the waste is drained off then it's washed 3 times, settles & again the water is drained off, then its left to circulate around to 'Dry' it out....An hour or so later you have BioFule...which is pummped into a holding tank where its 'pollished' goes through muliple fillters down to 1 micron to make sure theres is no crap in it... Finaly pummed in to a holding tank which then feed generators, which make Lecky which they sell to the grid. Simples

So lots of standing around today basicaly doing nothing. Same again tommrow & prob the next few days before we will be able to get more hands on.

Plan A is to during the next week or so we will be doing the work with one of the incumbant techs looking over our shoulders.

3 of us started today...1 of them disapeared over lunch never to be seen again ! Bit rude he didn't even tell anyone he was going just drove off.

I or course am away next week to sunny Wales so when I get back the training for the advanced role they have planned for me will start.

Current hours are 8 till 4, its just 9.4 miles but there is a back road which cuts a bit out but it's not a nice road, terrible surface, loads of gravel & the tractor coming round the cornner taking up almost all the road kinda put's me off using it ....

Well that's the first day done
At least you didn't disappear like someone did apparently
I can't say I like the short cut road either.

I take it you do get a lunch break :?:

Chris.

Do they let you cook your chips in the oil before they start the process?

So how does the Storm run on bio fuel?

Did the bloke who disappeared find out you were going to be his overseer?

The other bloke failed to show up today...Hahahaha

Turns out he was stuck at a hospital with a sick relative...

Had a go in a telehandler moving some IBC's around... Done plenty of FLT driving over the years but this is a bit different... Took a while to work out which controls do what.

No I wont be trying the BioFule in me Storm...

Well it would seem that BioFules was not the future for me...

A couple of weeks ago I had a slight disagreement with one of the managers over the days work.

I had things to do, he wanted me to do somethingh else...

Upshot was that as I was on probation, he decided to send me home & not come back...

No loss to me TBH. Too many managers not communcating despite sitting in the same office.

The good news is I start with BCR this morning... Yard operative, basicaly moving cars around a site. 12 hr days but 4 on 4 off...

Will have to work weekends tho...& get up @ 04.00 to be up & atom to get there for OHHHH 6.00hrs !

Except today I'm starting @ 07.00...The best bit is the Yyard is nextdoor to the Bio place...

It's actually a job I applied for this before the BIo job...

Funny how things work out.

I can sympathise with the manager bit.
I quit a job in the far far North of Scotland last year..350 mls commute on the Storm every 10 or 12 days.
Self employed but relied on useless managers on the construction site to organise our materials supply..idiots..afyer 18 mths I jacked.
It paid £40 /hr.
Nothing is worse in a job than battling against incompetent assholes.
Good luck in your new job.

Well so far so good... Not excatly rocket science, so I can just about keep up with it...

Fairly big site so lots of walking...7 to 8 miles a day...OK except when it's raining ! like on Thursday when it was non stop all day... The yard where most of the cars are parked up is gravel, so plenty of puddles & over the past couple of days we have filled every avaliable spot up & even made a few new ones...

Problem is more cars come in than go out... There was another site in Sandwich which was closed due to pillfering... Why they dont keep it open for storage is unknown. Enfield site closed... Blackbush which is just storrage is full with 65000 cars !

This site has workshops on it so cars are refurbed, valeted & either go to auction or Cinch...

So I'm on 4 off now, back in on Thursday... Apparently the other shift is a bit pants so fek know what sort of mess I'll walk into ...

See how long this one lasts...
