moaning neighbour!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! i need advice?

Post by theweeeman »

Now, picture this: I live on a hill, its a busy street at times, but not too bad. It has a row of semi's on one side and terraces on the other. Im in a terraced house, with a small garden and no garage. Since i could nt afford to pay rent on my old garage i gave it up and bike goes in garden. I cant just ride in and out though it has to be backed in, and cos of the hill and small pavement i have to shunt back and forth using the bikes motor. Any way, the lad across the way is a petrol head, (loud stereo, big bore exhaust type) and he is constantly pissing his neighbour off with the noise. Now today i pulled up after work and was outside (bike off) talking to this lad(who was reving his car up), when his nieghbour came out and started swearing at us, He said my bike does his head in every morning and i keep reving the engine on mornings, (have to ride up a slope to get out!) I tried to reason with him but he kept swearing saying if something aint done he will call police  . Now im sure i was just in the wrong place at the wrong time maybe, but i have to use the bike and unfortunately i have no standard cans, . But if he does call the police what would they do? where do i stand? And im i really doing anything wrong? My kids are in bed when i leave on mornings, and they dont wake up! My nieghbours each side dont complain yet hes across the road! What would you guys sugest i do? :( and what do these asbo's that people harp on about????

hi mate, sounds to me like this fella has had enough of the petrol head and as you say , you were in the wrong place at the wrong time. Id just keep your head down , dont use excess revs where nessecery and see how things go. as for the pipes i think you would only get a warning to get standerd ones if the cops were called (which i doubt they will be) and im sure someone could lend you some till it all calmed down. you have a right to use your bike so they cant stop you, only thing would be is with the cans, but i wouldnt worry to much about it, and just keep away from the petrol head for a while.

Olkno9 , thats sound enough advice, cheers. I wonder if i can fit some db killers in my art's  . Just i would have stayed and listened to what he had to say, but he was using abusive language, and quite threatening, A man of that age should really be carefull who he picks on, cos the petrol head aint small  . I will just keep me head down and see how it goes :o

Hi wee man, keep the choke only up far enough to keep the motor warming up, about 1500 RPM, just get it out of the street, go round the corner and waken them up instead, couple of mins in someone elses street works wonders for relations with the neighbours.

Why don't you pre-empt the old git..(see I'm using your slang now..! ;) ), & go to the cops yourself & explain the situation. That way, if he does lob up, they will be more understanding to your situation...

If your in your property & not intentionally creating a disturbance, I don't think they could do too much..(not 100% sure of your laws though)

 cheers mono&kev, I am takin note of that. This morning i asked both neigbours each side of me, if the bike were being a nusence. Both said, " Not at all, your out almost immediately and when you return its off as soon as your parked". I explained the problem with the "old git" across the way, and they blame the "petrolhead" next to him for that! They said if the police or council get involved, they will back me anyway, cos im considerate enough to worry about the noise i make anyway  How cool is that!!!!!!!
