Colour thoughts

Post by freeridenick »

I'm thinking of a very monochrome paint scheme for my rebuild but the frame of a Firestorm isn't the prettiest so I was going to try and stop it standing out by finishing it in Matt black. The engine will be satin black with polished covers and the bodywork I think will look a bit crap if it's not gloss, so the question is, is that too many versions of black?

Have a look at page 18, the two new black and dark colour schemes for Tuono v4.
With that much black they let the frame stay unpainted to avoid exactly what you're saying.
It's not falling off, it's an upgrade opportunity.

Sounds spot on to me, I am going black gloss wheels satin black sub frame, swing arm satin black body work is staying Honda red may change to gloss black,
frame due to cost will stay its original Colour but have thought about wrapping the smooth bits.

If I hadn't got the polished engine cases, and probably rearsets, I'd agree completely. The forks are Fireblade RWU ones so the chrome stanchions will offset the black. The sliders are the silver too. I could leave the swingarm as polished metal too.

I'll have to play around with a photo and some sort of Photoshop-type programme. Leaving the frame silver would save a lot of money and time, especially if it all looks too black and ends up being stripped off.
