Replacing rear tyre - going to do chain & sprockets... Would moving away from standard gearing have any benefit? Looking at the old sweats that have tried this. I don't ride 2 up - I'm not a flat out Larry, probs not gonna do a track day anytime soon... I like steering this canal barge through twisty A roads. -1 +2 on rear :wtf: ? If not no worries - like for like swap / just thought whilst I'm down there you know.. because if I'm totally honest that last gear.. I don't use it that often :silent: // go easy on me

I have no issues on standard gearing, on A and B roads there's a lot of rapid fun to be had in 3rd and 4th gear using all the revs. I did try +1 on the rear of one of mine years ago, I can't remember a massive difference but it might have been a little bit more lively, no real gains I can remember, also tried -1 on track and it was useless without a slipper clutch, really not worth doing. Imo these bikes don't need big gearing changes, you can flip them in 1st gear as std.
Top gear is just a motorway gear, nice for cruising and getting a bit further between fill ups.

Ok thanks popkat - In which case I'll keep it as is  no point in pointless melding.
