what will get you through winter?

Post by AMCQ46 »

dark mornings and looking out the window today, it already looks like winter is on its way.. :( so what is going to get you through the winter?

what projects you planning ?

or what memories from the year so far that keep a smile on your face?

my starters:

when I look at these 2 photos it captures the bikes and the beautiful landscape that riding the bike enabled in an otherwise f***ed up year. … and I remember the great trips … NI and Scottish highlands on the KTM, OP storm Scotland & Wales on the Storm … and smile :D

Haven't decided yet, but with today and the ongoing forecast I'll have to get my head together very quick.

By the way, your 2 images aren't working.

I have 3 projects over the winter but my past history shows they may not get done
1- fit new fork seals to the blade front end on the fighter along with a front brake master cylinder rebuild kit and new front pads.

2- Carefully fit the freshly painted tank, mudguards, and side panels on my 1968 Triumph Trophy.

3- Start to totally strip my 1982 dt125lc mk1 which has been standing 22 years until I got hold of it earlier in the year.

I will stand back for the sarcasm and pi55 taking now

Oooh lots to do and I suspect I'll only get a fraction done...

1. Reassemble Laverda Mirage and prepare for selling 😥

2. Install 'Rogered' 954 front end on the 'Storm, finish larger fuel tank project, get new RR wired up and develop stainless steel oil cooler pipework 😉

3. Get Moto Guzzi 1000 back together and on the road.
Insufferable halfwit.

Get the painted parts back from the painter for the SP2 and the SL125.
Then get both reassembled, fire up the SL for the first time in 20 years, and list the SP2 for sale. If it doesn't sell, AC50 it for the winter, and try again in the spring.

If it snows, might get the SL out, they're great fun in snow....

Get the lh switchgear replaced under warranty on the Tuono, more AC50 on that and keep buying a few Ti bolts every couple of weeks.

And plan next year's rideouts.

Lastly, get my head in front of the SAD lamp and a sun bed session every three weeks to stop me getting too grumpy!

Non bike related, new bathroom, soffits and gutters all round, and paint exposed woodwork on the house. Dig pigeon poo out of all of the gutters, and build a new dovecote. The current one's full up with guano.
Then it'll be November, the wife will have another jobs list by then!
It's not falling off, it's an upgrade opportunity.

The secret of any list is to only ever do 75% of it. If you finish it or God help you finish it quickly it will be replaced with a BIGGER LIST.
They have me mercy!!!!!!

Mostly I've got memories that make me grumpy. Getting me through the winter will be fixing engines, fitting nice parts to the track bike and getting on with mastering welding well enough to allow me to make some parts.

Lloydie I’m guessing by your previous track record S. A. D. stands for Sheep Anal Destruction ImageImageImage

Oddly, I had time last weekend to play with bikes, it was warm enough, I had all the plastic and metal sprayed and ready for two bikes, SP2 and SL125, ready for a service and rebuild respectively, plus Titanium bits to fit for the Tuono, yet I chopped the top off a hedge, pulled up some crocosmia and watched some bike racing.

I haven't yet got that urge to do something, anything to do with bikes.
But it will come, it will come.

Probably after the last race of the last series of the year.....
