Hello - a new VTR rider

Hey all,

Just dropping a line to say hi! I get my VTR on Friday and super excited! I recently sold my mint Ducati 748 (less then 5k miles!) due to the lack of work out there but still need a bike in my life! I’m hoping the VTR is the perfect replacement, sounds like it has enough power but also won’t break my back and wrists rafter 30min! The VTR that’s coming has 17k miles, total original and in blue, all rare things I hear for a 20 year old bike! Though I’m prob gonna change the standard exhausts. All sounds good for £2100!

Looking at getting the GP moto exhausts if anyone has them?

Hope all’s well and people are safe and well!

Simon

Enjoy, nice looking bit of kit.
Just crack on and do those cct's, either mcct or stopper mod. Totally takes all the worry away

Cam chain tensioner ( as factor fitted )
Manual cam chain tensioner ( mod to replace factory )
Stopped cct ( mod to factory cam chain tensioner to prevent damage but not failure)
Tensioners are the Achilles heel of the Firestorm.

Amazing! Thanks, I’ll have a good look here and on YouTube/google and get that done ASAP!
Don’t want my bike to go pop too soon!

welcome to the club.

use the workshop section of the Forum to get the fitting & removal instructions for CCT. generic youtube videos for cam chain tensioner removal will get you in trouble on this bike.

Welcome aboard Simon

Your bike looks like a nice clean and tidy example with low mileage,

Thanks for all he warm welcomes! I’ve ordered some MCCT’s and a new updated rectifier (one with fins). The bike just turned up and there’s not a mark on it! So pleased but... can’t get the seat to lift up with the key? Is it a wigggle and persist or is there a trick to opening it? Thanks in advance.

Typically it’s the worst week for weather in ages!

Also that blue! Wow pictures don’t do it justice, so much nicer in the flesh!
