Off to a good start. Base camp was set up in short order and it’s in a beautiful spot.
Looks like it’s going to be a good day today

Great weekend, all home safe and sound, except flatly and Tony as they were going to spend a few extra days up there (but no together :D )

Cracking 230 mile ride, great food and great chat. Life is good

Will post some of the photos that are on whatsapp tomorrow

The planned route

Image

The lazy solution to the m6 , but Was annoying when PeteL filtered past me in a tailback near Preston.

Image

But allowed me to bring gas bbq and stop at the supermarket for some provisions.
Image
Image

Was nice and sunny afternoon and evening.
Image

And bikes parked in the bunker.
Image

Social distancing went well in the sunshine, but once it started raining wasn’t so easy.
Image

Saturday came cold but dry, and we were joined by flatty, Kermittlefrog, wellgroomed, and a mate called Kev on a V-Strom.

So just flatty and I were the only firestorms.
Tony and Kermittlefrog on aprilia Tuono V4.
PeteL and Grumpyfrog on droopy Suzuki gsx1000r
Irish James on his mad husky 700 supermoto.
Wellgroomed on his ktm adventure.
Budd on a new ktm 1290SDGT
Budds mates chris (bmwS1000r) and Ricky (triumph tiger 800)
Kev on the Suzuki v Strom

So we had 1, 2, 3 & 4 cyl noise.

We had only gone 15 miles and full the bikes up, but Tony’s bike won’t start. ! Image

Fixed that and we had no problems other than faced hurting from smiling.

I didn’t take many scenic photosImage

Image

Finished the ride with a stop at the church where Norman is buried.
Image

Then bikes put to bed and beer opened followed by a good meal at the hotel.

Just another year to wait to do it again, but bring on WalesImage

As I say every year, I get a huge pride taking people up to my home area, sharing the roads and the scenery and then hearing everybody buzzing about it.

It is a very special place..... so ideal four our special needs outing.

Good news is that Phil Is going back round the route at a leisurely pace and photographing the scenery for all those that missed it when just looking for apexes.

this is the Dalveen Pass up a Glaciated Valley north of Thornhill. the road follows the contours of the hill side and you just go for it :D

Thanks Phil.

Nothing like a van 👍
My Mum and Dad had a V4 petrol transit crewbus with sliding doors. Great fun driving around with the doors open and no belts. That thing did some work and I was always keen to borrow it 🤣🤣
Not always successful though, in more ways than one
