VTRNZ
Re: VTRNZ
You're certainly making good head-way with the cooling side of things
The seat unit has come along way from what you started with, well done
I can see now where the U-bend was intended for
Chris.

Re: VTRNZ
Started on the exhaust.
With the help of a couple of these:
I came up with this:
Which looked OK until viewed from the top where.....
It kicked out like a dogs hind leg. Back out with the grinder and an hour later:
Just tacked together at the moment and obviously needs finishing. Once it's fully welded I'll put it back on the bike and try to get the other side to match!

I like the look of your hard work in these two photo's best.
I think the side view will look better once the welds have been finished and cleaned-up,
Chris.

Re: VTRNZ
As mentioned previously, the wiring loom on the bike was in an abysmal state. It's a wonder it ever ran.
I'm not shy of making/sorting wiring looms, but in a recent alcohol-fuelled browsing of 'a local auction site' I came across an ad for a complete VTR wiring loom, unmolested and intact for just $35NZ. Being a notorious tight-wad I (of course) haggled, and had it delivered to my door for just $30. Result!

Re: VTRNZ
Because of atrocities such as this:
and these:
I've now got this:
Waiting in the wings (or more accurately on the shelf) to be fitted.
Having modified the seat to suit my needs it occurred to me that I would probably need to hold it down in some way other than my bulk sat on top of it. Riveted and bonded these:
Which slide down the side of the subframe, and will bolt to the (now vacant) upper pillion peg mount:
I'll have to mod the seat fairing slightly to get the bolts in.
Just in case there's also this:
Which will have one single bolt going through the bumpad.

Re: VTRNZ
Thanks for the kind words guys.
Now all I need to do is find the time to strip and paint it!

Re: VTRNZ
Well it's been a while since I updated. More family trauma, another house move and a month of lockdown have got in the way a bit, not to mention it's now winter here in NZ. But I have been busy and yon beastie is nearly ready for paint! Stay tuned.....
