It should do Tony. The spec is good enough.

Initially it'll be dressed as a 'Storm Fabio, but I have a plan for that.

Finally the wheels are back. In the meantime I've spent about 15hours sanding and polishing the Harris rear sets. They're not even close to mirror finish but it's the best I can do. If they look crap when they go on I'll whip them off and send them to the guy who did the covers.

I've also made a rod for my own back, probably literally, by fitting the frame and swing arm to the engine on the bench. Hopefully a neighbour or two will be able to help me lift it off so I can set to fitting the forks and wheels once tyres are on. Image

That looks trick Nick.

I was thinking the same about the weight of that assembly and how the hell you are going to get it back onto the floor.

An engine hoist crane will do it without risking your back.
Ask around, anyone working in old cars will have one in the back of the garage.
Or do what I did. Find a hoist normally used for personal care...

After enlisting the help of a couple of neighbors the bike is now on wheels. The pic is from a few days ago so the loom, front subframe and clocks, and clutch line are now in.
Stupidly I coated everything with ACF 50 which brought the matt finishes up a bit shinny and dulled the polished stuff. When it's completely dry I'll give it a good rub and see what it looks like, but I can see it'll end up with a good wash and a quick repolish.
Next job is to paint the rads and covers then the plumbing can go in, then the carbs etc. Image

It's starting to look like a bike now. Still loads to do, nothing is connected up. I stuck the tank on yesterday just for somewhere to store it and then shoved the subframe and seat on so I saw a bike today. Bit of psychology to con myself into thinking it's nearly there.

Subframe painting next, and oil cooler unless I can find a better one, and then I can start connecting stuff up. Electrics are the next headache. From reading the MOT guidelines it's just the headlight and taillight that need to be E-marked. So I can cover that easily enough. I need winkers too and to wire up the brake light pressure switches. And work out how to attach a tail tidy. All easy jobs but they always take longer than I think. Image
