Having owned the VTR and flogged it many times I am curious about what different folk do after riding their bikes.
For me it's mostly the norm, inspect chain/ lube chain if necessary, check for leaks, make sure the lights work,a quick polish and all is well ready for the next ride.
Or do you just park it up and repeat the process of flogging your bike? All the while waiting for something to break?
Because I love to thrash my bikes when I ride them I also look after them.
What do you do? Please don't get TOO graphic!!!

Re: Maintenance Regime*
I have a good look over it once a week as I use it every day .
Normal stuff really , chain clean and lube and adjustment if needed ,
All fluid check , tyres and pressures .
Bearing check .
Basically just make sure it's safe and ready.
This way I can keep an eye on it and get the parts in advance.

Don't flog mine, but as I have worked on all of the bike, I know nothing will fall off, scottoiler fitted so chain never needs adjusting and cush drives fitted every two years when the air filter gets changed.
I generally can feel if there is something wrong with her, and I will investigate if there is something not right, she is a good girl and tells me if there is something wrong with her.

Re: Maintenance Regime*
Give it a polish, check, adjust and lube chain if needed, inspect tyres, look over brakes, clutch and rads for leaks, check lights and indicators, oil and fluid levels and finally tighten up all fasteners that have vibrated loose.I always give it a good look over just before I ride it.
SO WHEN DOES THIS OLD ENOUGH TO KNOW BETTER KICK IN
Re: Maintenance Regime*
pretty much as above once a week it gets a good look over. new airfilter every spring. oil and filter change in springtime and around sep/oct and shes good to go..
the older i get,the faster i was
Re: Maintenance Regime*
Since I bought my VTR with unknown maintenance history, I've gone over it with a fine tooth comb and replaced a lot of wear items (chain, sprockets, cush rubbers, filters, plugs) and made adjustments to the TPS, carb synch and valve clearance, plus fitted MCCTs. I've also replaced tyres, fitted a new shock (and greased linkages) and repainted/re-sprung/revalved the forks, plus replaced the front brake system (CBR954) and fitted new back pads. All of that in about 7000km, so maintenance now consists of just oiling the chain, checking tyre pressures and watching the oil level (my VTR does seem to sip a little). I have had a to bleed the front brakes as they seem to get a little spongy every now and then.

Re: Maintenance Regime*
iam lucky to just use it for fun mainly but i would like to ride it daily esp in dry warm weather. I wash it always after going for a ride. I also check and lube the chain. Always check oil after a ride, and the floor before i go out to see if its leaked ( Cloth on my carpet ).
quick check of the lights etc and thats it. put it away once its dry. lube the ign lock and seat unit lock. Check tyres for nails etc.

missing the noise, not the vibes. However never say never!
Re: Maintenance Regime*
Only thing I do , lube the chain (while still hot) if it needs it,
other than that I do weekly checks/clean if needed during the week

Interesting replies.
My bike has never been washed with a hose and sponge whilst I have owned it.
Never been pressure washed either.
I do have a small steam cleaner that I use sometimes though.
I wonder what the replies would have been if it was a Ducati forum.
I have owned a few of those and love the difference between the VTR and the Ducs in regards to maintenance.
Thanks for the replies.
