Yup - stock unit on early VTRs is an unfinned unit - later Hondas were finned but not that type (cheapy Chinese?). Try and go for a mosfet upgrade.

Any way to know if this is a mosfet kind?

Mainstream Mosfet R/Rs mainly have different connectors and are marked FH > http://www.vtr1000.org/phpBB3/viewtopic ... ty#p351482

Is there anything I should do to the frame now that it's free of the rest of the bike?

give it a good clean....... :wink:
and maybe fit new head bearings, I use taper bearing from all balls.... :thumbup:

This bike is being sold. Every piece except for the frame. Im picking up my new bike in the morning :D (see bike below) I cant wait. I will also be fitting a 19l tank and a Penske rear shock :D. Once all that is together, I have a piece of custom work that I havnt mentioned yet (insert evil laugh).
