:Beer Popcorn: My very first "Cage" was a -(drum roll)- TADA!! 1960 Renault CV4. The absolute ugliest (or very near the front of the pack) toad ever to see daylight on blacktop. It was cheap to purchase (just short of them paying me to take out of their way) and almost could be called reliable (as long as you topped off the oil as well as the petrol each stop),but being tall (6' 2'') even when a young man, it was entertaining as hell watching me, not get into, but rather put that little car on. As it was a rear engine rig, it was very light on the nose end. Even on nice clean dry pavement if you tried to do much hard? driving you were always up for the front end pushing and sliding and them grabbing which brought on hard counter steering to try catching up with the back end coming around so it could get a look at where you had been intending to go.

After the toad came a 1961 English Ford Anglia which promptly was converted to a auto-crosser with full tilt Cortina GT engine and gearbox. Though by almost any standard calling the anglia a performance vehicle had everyone rolling on the floor in fits of laughter, holding there sides and wiping tears. BUT after the toad the handling characteristics and "spacious" interior I was "on the move".

Actually before the toad or the anglia I had several other "vintage cages". I had purchased, rejuvenated and sold a half dozen older American Fords (from a 1921 model T to the newest was a 1955 2Dr sedan ex-police unmarked, made a awesome sleeper street=rod) before I was old enough to even consider getting licensed.

But in amongst the "Cages" were a variety of 2 wheel beasties, Macos, Zundapps, Nortons, Beezers, and my main ride and love for many years Triumphs. Ahh the "Good Old Days". :Beer Popcorn:
