What's the diameter of the speedo face plate in millimetres?

Once I have that I can work out a vector drawing in Illustrator

Yes please

If you can just take an overhead view picture square on of the speedo plate (if it can be taken out) agianst a white background then I can figure out the tabs placement and size.

That's all I need

Lastly what the colour of the white hatches and numbers when lit from behind? Red?

Here's the standard speedo modified but retaining the OEM range

Image

Next I'll make the 180 - the new 160 and rejig the spacing for the interim speeds

Nice job...looking good.

Red backing works for my set up as I have bright LED replacement lights and the top mounted LED lights as well.
The upgraded back lighting alone did little for me on this later gauge because of the plastic colorization.
I think a mat clear backing would work as well as users can get any color back lighting T5 LEDs they want.

In case you did not notice there is a tab top and bottom .. I think they are for indexing a machine install or remnants of the stamping process perhaps as they do not see to have a use when face is on the meter. having them would likely help aligning the mask to the plastic backer..Yes?

If the tabs aren't needed for fitting then I'll dispense with them as it will aid in cutting the mounting disc face out with a compass cutter.

For the back lighting I checked my Storm and numerals were white when off and red when lights are on - my other Honda is white when lights are off or on. Honda do it with inks (with different opacities) I can replicate it using coloured translucent vinyl under the white mounting disc face for any fixed colour or leave it off as you suggest so a coloured bulb can provide the req. coloured numerals at night.

Do you want me to run one off for you and bung in the post? If so do you want any thing custom where the mph text goes instrad of the 'Warp Factor VTR' ? and spec other options i.e coloured or plain. I could also do the matt black fronting instead in carbon fibre effect vinyl...

The dodgy b8stard used only one light for illuminating the speedo face from he rear
back side speedo 2001.jpg
And the face seems to be a clear plastic base with a layered mask set up.
The back side as a white and varying spaced black dot matrix I assume is to diffuse and evenly distribute light though the face from the one light bulb. Then on the front side it appears to be a red layer and white layer mask on top, so the face numbers appear white unless back lit and it is dark out side.
back side speedo 2001.jpg
Mat black mask for me I think on the face...

and red translucent plastic if its available as I have gotten used to the red back lighting and front side white LED light at night . If the red plastic is not on hand, do it in clear and I'll pick up a few LEDs in different brightness and colors and see if it works.
With only one OEM light bump lighting from the lower left edge, it will be interesting to see how it looks without the layered set up Honda used.

Text... hmmm,
Love the VTR initials so keep them... I know I should keep is basic and neutral, but I cant resist, where you have the "Warp Factor" put MarquezRacing No spacing between words and use what ever font you think works best maybe in a slight forward slant like the warp factor,,,hell, use that same font .

I'll PM you a shipping address...and heck yes I'd love to have one in the mail...

I think the single LED light isn't pumping out enough photons - try with normal bulbs

That was just with kitchen light as example.

The LED does well and brighter with full illumination over the tine T5 base incandescent bulb
