Hi all.

I am new to this forum so please go easy on me..

Well 3 weeks ago the underground car park where I keep my bike flooded. My storm was completely under fresh, but dirty water for 7 hours.

I have got the bike running but I can't seem to get it to rev. It's a little better at reving with the choke out but still not right.

So far I have -

Emptied fuel tank and replaced with fresh fuel.
Removed and cleaned the jets/float in carb
Emptied crank and cylinders of water.

All the electrics are working and the battery is charging, but I am not sure where to go from here.

Any help is much appreciated.

Greetings - most unusual first post problem.

Hopefully you changed oil at least twice and the oil filter. Plus get a new airfilter.

Check the spark plug where it goes into the cam cover recess isn't still flooded with water. Make sure the drain hole isn''t blocked. Air all the electrics and spray with WD40 into every nook & cranny.

Wow that's unfortunate & remarkable about the battery charging/functional electrics!

My guess would be there is still some water hiding in something carb related - vacuum hose or something similar.. the more clever/knowledgeable/attractive members will be along shortly no doubt

when my electrics got flooded it took a few days of carefully hair dying the eclectics and ECU / CDI for it to be right again it, until then it was firing in a mad order

Yes I have changed the oil and filter three times and it's now as good as new. The first two changes you could still see water in the oil. Now it stays fresh though.

Air filter is new. Plugs were good. Cleaned them and sprayed ht leads with wd40.

I was amazed when it fired up but just can't seem to get it running right.

Might want to check electrics esp as Seb mentions cdi unit in the tail etc. and maybe drain fuel again and refill anew.

and consider some mods to your VTR along these lines

What kind of cans have you ? ... any liquid trapped in baffles bends nooks
and krannys et....c restricting gas flow... or crap washed/ seeped down... into them maybe
take em apart blow air through.

This is something that is lurking in the back of my mind!! There is a vac pipe that cancer blocked normally with road muck which causes trouble?

Have you blown the carb though with an air line. Wondering whether the could be a obstruction tthat is causing fuel starvation at ie revs ie blocked main jet!!

Only ideas, I'm certainly the most attractive (aside from Jamie and his fake tan) but no guru like our tools ole Mr Mon !! (I'm sorry if this spelt wrong, the ride magazine got me confused !)

Hi guys.

Thanks for the reply.

Yes I cleaned the carbs and and they locked good along with the jet.

Don't think I can put the vac hose on wrong as it has a different connection. It does geek like it's not getting enough fuel though.

If I take the vac pipe off and blow down it,it's not blocked.

Any more ideas people?

Actually guys I forgot to add that I can rev it as soon as it starts but after a few seconds I can't get revs.

Must be a fuel problem surely??????

The following is info on the right way to connect the vacuum hose. It's worth double checking as it's an easy mistake to make.
