Wanted: frame bolt adjuster 90117-mbb-000

Post by Jamoi »

Im after the frame bolt adjuster (no.10 on frame microfiche) part number 90117-MBB-000.

I can only find sellers in the states, I ordered one 2-3 weeks ago and have just received an email stating: "this part is a special order item and may have long lead times, please await further instruction".

I could really do with one sooner than the open ended timescale they have given me :(

David Silver say they have one in stock, but I would phone them first if you do use them, just to make sure.

Ah brilliant, thank you

I must have tried DSS first as it seems the most obvious port of call for these types of bits. Perhaps I didn't

Will call them tomorrow :)

Honda often say this when you order a part, but they nearly always seem to arrive in a few days.
It's not falling off, it's an upgrade opportunity.

Hopefully

I'm not in a big rush to get done but, would be nice to get the frame back on.

Tony, if I bring my bike to you when it's back together would you help me check valve clearances? Or is it best done now while my rocker covers are off?

Can do, it'll be spring when I next hold a workshop day, though.
Best done now, while you can see them. All you need is a set of metric feeler gauges, you don't need the kinked ones really.

Just measure the gaps, inlets are .13.to.19, exhausts are .29 to .34, but the hardest part of the job is getting the crank end cover off!

If you measure them I'll tell you what shims you need.
It's not falling off, it's an upgrade opportunity.

Just checked valve clearances. They are within the guidlines but at the more 'open' end of the scale. Only problem is I don't have a feeler of 0.1mm so ive measured 0.15mm which is loose, then a 0.7 + 0.10 which won't fit in... so that must mean its within 0.13 to 0.19mm specified range... I.e 0.17mm ? I think!

clearances are fine towards the open then of the adjustment, aslong as they don't get any bigger, clearances normally decrease with mileage, against what you might think which is that they increase. this is because as the valve and seat wear the valve sits further into the head, which means the stem is sticking up further, closing the clearances. when doing valve clearances with bucket and shim i'd set them to the loose side of tolerance so that they last longer between adjustments. fitting a .15 and not a .10+.07 sounds spot on.

Quality, thanks for that! Yeah I just assumed the gap would widen, so that's good if they close over time, as I'm up the wider/loose end of the range

Well that was a nice and easy first valve clearance experience!
