Here's an old thread regarding TPS http://www.vtr1000.org/phpBB3/viewtopic ... or#p158256

If your wondering why it says set at 430 here. I think this was something that was tried but has since been proven to not necessarily be right. It maybe be OK with highly modified engines Stage 1 or 2 but not with standard. I would go with Factory Pro's advice on this as they have been doing this stuff for years and have dyno tested everything on a EC997 Dynamometer which is one of the best.

Alright guys ! seems I have this cutting out issue too (I attract more problems than maths room white board) anyway iv just re-set my tps to 500ohms bang on the money and it doesnt seem to have sorted the problem :eh: my idle is set to 1100 and barely ever moves, shes got new plugs, coils and is chargeing also fresh filters (front cct failed so while i was in there decided i may as well get carried away) the only thing i have yet to do is balence carbs but i dont see how the carb imbalence could cause this as the cut out seems very instant and electrical.
any thoughts greatfully accepted

It's surprising what difference balancing your carbs make mate. Much smoother. Iv not done anything other than balance my carbs and reset the TPS and my problem went away straight away.

Having the two biggest carbs Honda ever put on a bike working together is important . Having them out of sync is like walking down the street on one leg !
You can do it but not ideal !
But with both legs working together you can walk with much more ease and less energy is used to Achieve this .

Get the carbs working together and you will notice the difference

Alright guys sorry its been a while but life got in the way of making plans and getting things done just a quick post to say carb balance cured the cutting out issue, and its worth mentioning that they weren't that far adrift either. Having also set the tps and raised idle speed first I can be fairly certain that the imbalance was the issue thanks again for the advice loved the bike past few weeks she's on it ! :D

Thanks for the update Luke.

Mine wasn't cutting out but was pretty erratic at idle recently and a Carb Balance sorted it out as well. It had been a few years since I last checked it

Definitely something that needs to be done regularily - maybe when it's serviced

Has anyone tried just leaving the TPS unplugged? seemingly it works.

....or not..
