fork question, help plz

Post by elmer fud »

eyup guys,
started fiddling today and wanted to set the static sag.
I measured the front as a base point which was 55mm.....oh crap!
lots more pre load needed to get the sag down to the 33mm I like to run at.
I then started to up the pre load to reduce the sag, but ran out of adjustment.
I think I need new springs, so have you guys got any reccomendations?
Also, is 10w oil the one to go for or can you let me into any more secrets?
any comments appreciated.
Dave.

Funny you should mention it, I also set about adjusting the sag front and rear on my bike yesterday. After a long run I now feel I have the settings pretty much spot on for me. ( Soft as possible without any bottoming out ).

I had my forks resprung with Ohlins single rate springs (standard oil weight) and can thoroughly recommend them. I couldn't afford a full respring and re-valve at the time but I'm extremely happy with the result.

That wil give you plenty of scope for adjustment. At the moment I have the pre-load setting about 1 ring from fully out and have about 32mm of static sag.

As for the rear, I have a WP emulsion type shock at the rear ( pre-load and rebound adjustment only ) and it works a treat.

If your feeling flush then the person to talk to about the FireStorm forks is Rodjer Ditchfield ( http://www.revolutionuk.co.uk ). They do a full fork re-valve and re-spring to suit your weight and riding style for £200.

Dave

If you live near Preston then you're about 20 minutes from Galgate (just off the lancaster/A6 junction on the M6, J33 I think it is).

Do yourself a favour, go and see Roger at revolution. He can set up your stock suspension or rework it to tried-n-tested specifications based on your weight/riding style etc. He set mine up when it was on standard suspension and it was waay better than the stock settings. Definitely recommended.

Rumbled

Only thing is it should've had the words 'hes ma bitch' after it but the tattoo bloke ran out of ink. :biggrin

You can't talk Fluffy (gay name btw). You gave it to Delboy and Sheeny up the butt at the same time. :biggrin :biggrin :biggrin :biggrin :biggrin

And there was a Mule involved (or should that be Muell)

Maybe you should alter your sig to read Fluffy :wink2
