98% of all Harleys ever sold are still on the road. The other 2% made it home

Tis not a ''shed'' you philistine!alec wrote:that new shed's coming along nice though mate.
It will be on completion an extension to the garage. Awaiting the roof, door & even a window then I shall be knocking a big hole in the a-joining wall, building a bench sorting some electrics.......then filling it with shite I'll probably never use but will store away as ''it might come in usefull one day'' !
After all that's what a garage is for right?

Re: Old Red
I figure with enough run up & a suitable ramp I can jump the Thames & visit Sarfend without using the Dartford tunnel thus saving the 50 odd mile ride & giving much better fuel economy, might get a bit damp if I come up short though.tony.mon wrote:His garden's just about long enough.
Come to think of it why would I want to visit Sarfend anyway ?? That will save even more fuel.

Re: Old Red
Your garage isn't to bad Alec, it's that shed in the garden with all the crap in it you need to be worried about.

Re: Old Red Refreshed At last.
TaDa!! Finally got it all back together!
PC'd Swingarm,Linkages, Subframe & Wheels all with new bearings. New tyres Dunlop Sport Smarts. Not forgetting a general clean up of four years accumulated road crap!
There is, before anyone comments, a ''Still to do list''. I have an undertray to fit & intend to fit new fork springs which is when the fork lowers get the attention they badly need or most likely as I will be doing it the attention badly needed done badly! (*)
No thanks goes to David Silvers spares for their prices!
NSP powder coating in Gravesend for long delays & shite work!
Thanks Goes to Mr T. Mons esq for the sale of the subframe & the free linkages.
Mr Miztaziggy for the sale of the Swingarm.
Mr B. S. Marty for the sale of the Undertray.
The council I work for, for the free handwipes. (very useful for cleaning greasy things chaps!)
Mr Brook & Mr Bond for services to tea.
Mr G.Virginia & Mr R.Izzla for services to damaged lungs.
My fiends & family who thankfully stayed out of the way.
& yes I have been out & scrubbed those new tyres in & can report that It rides like a different bike now that the rear suspension works in the way that Mr Honda intended it to when it left the factory.
Seriously guys if you have not checked your rear ends in a while do it now! On mine the bearings were OK if a little dry in the dog leg small end but the bolts & crush sleeves were seized solid in both the shock lower eye & the large shaft of the triangle plate thing that bolts to the swingarm. I had to cut the plate to remove the shock & the rest of it is still firmly corroded to the swing arm awaiting the first test of a new grinder!
