Hello all, just swapped my CBR600F-Y for a 2000 VTR Firestorm, my goodness they are loud..

Have only had the bike licence since 2007 and since then ive had a few bikes, FZ6, R1 (2003) Fireblade (2002), Tuono, Shiver, Fireblade again (RRX) and then the CBR600FY. Now back on a twin and loving it.

Covered 80 odd miles this evening and bike is running a set of aftermarket cans, think i will revert back to the originals as my ears were still ringing 10 mins after i came home. Nice machine which will take a bit of getting used to, found that my wrists were sore after the 80 miles hoping i will get used to it. Seems a nice riding position and the power delivery is something else. Bike has covered just over 13K from new and has the addition of the repsol paint job from new, will get some pics up.

So any advice on things to do and try for a newbie.

Cheers
Mark

Welcome aboard Mark. You'll most likely find the standard cans will be restricting the bikes performance. Have you tried wearing ear plugs :?:

I picked up a set of the later handle bars for my bike (the black ones). They are more kinder on the wrists, as the angle of them is less than the earlier silver h/bars. The only problem is they are quite rare to find secondhand.
See how you go, you may find once you get used to them (as you say) your wrists will not ache so much.

Welcome to the club Mark, sounds like a good low milage bike you got there

As Chris said, make sure you wear earplugs ( even if you dont have race cans, it. Is good advice, as the wind noise will also affect your hearing) and try and fit some dB killers ( any kind of removable baffle ). I think there is a thread on here where benny hedges made some with industrial pipe fitting elbows, have a search.

If you think your bike is noisy try riding in a group of 10 storms on race cans going under railway bridges , and half of them doing kill switch back fires! That was our Swanick ride yesterday, now that was loud :D

No Mark, they are for the SP1 which has different diameter fork legs.
