Sadly It needs to go πŸ™ I may have a short ride on it in the next few days but I know I will love riding it.

.
A shame you need to move your Firestorm on.
It looks in amazing condition in your photo's, not a bike you come across everyday, with low mileage like that as well.

Good luck with a sale Malc,

Chris.

Just got the old shock out in prepartion to fit a new YSS. All came out with just a bit of jiggery-pokery without removing the exhaust etc. To my great relief, the linkage looks in great condition, whoever has been maintaining it before me has done a good job. Everything is lubed up with plenty of grease and the bearings & bolts are fine 'n dandy. Just needs a proper degrease, bit of a beadblast and re-lubing before fitting the new shock.

Interesting to find there was a hand made top spacer at 3mm thick which fell out - I'd previously asked about the benefits of fitting these... that'll be consigned to the bin as the YSS is adjustable for length if necessary.

Today's project was to strip the old shock and linkage out. 5 hours later I've a heap of parts strewn all over the garage floor... got a bit carried away with parts that need renewing or repairing.

What are these called, how are they best described in the search bar? They're rubber grommets with a hollow steel dowel fitted. There's 4 of 'em to mount the rear hugger but they're perished and look crap.

Tip
When you go to fit the shock up into the bike, if you wrap some thin cardboard (such as a cereal packet) around the spring, holding it in place with a couple bits of sticky-tape, it will stop you scratching that lovely new red spring :D
