Mechanic available

Post by tony.mon »

Hi :)

As some of you know already, I have been working on Storms for a few years now, and have tackled every job you can think of, on my own bike, spare engines, tuning engines and working on other people's bikes.

I am competent and have all of the special tools needed.

I am now offering servicing, engine work, manual CCT replacement, (or stopper mod, if you prefer) suspension rebuilds, carb balancing, fitting Dynojet or Factory Pro carb kits, valve clearances, head bearing replacement, electrical and fuelling problem-solving, tuning and accident/damage rebuilds. And anything else you might want, of course!

And one thing you don't get at most dealers- I'm happy to have you join in so that next time you can do the job for yourself. People who have attended my Workshop days have already benefited from this, and many can now tackle jobs with confidence for themselves. If you prefer YOU can do the work and I'll advise and guide.

But no paint or plastic repair, sorry.

Rates by negotiation, but typically lower than local dealerships, as you'd expect.

I may also be able to offer a "service exchange" when in stock for some common parts- heads, suspension linkages (with grease nipples, so no further problems) and complete engines.

You can come to Sevenoaks, Kent, where I have a workshop and covered work area, or I can come to you if you pay my travel expenses. Weekdays or weekends are ok.

So why not give me a call on 01732 762460, or my mobile- 07553 407799.

And as ever, help and advice given free here on the forum!

Thanks for all your messages of support, one job booked already

I'm not sure that this will turn into a living wage, especially in the winter months, but as they say, every little helps.

Ah, well, off to draw my ex-boss's face onto a squash ball ready for tonight's game.... :D

maybe put an ad in your local and nearby bike meets, local paper etc...
before long you will be turning down work
hope it works out ok for you bud...
i use to do a lot of domestic sparking and plumbing work when i was on my butt, used to put a card in the local builders merchants and b&q.
b&q used to remove them every day but i persisted lol, kept me well busy and i made a quite a few bob doing showers, outside taps, extra sockets & stuff.
one thing - it's easy to get work but another matter getting paid... be very clear what a job will cost and state your rates before you take on a job... used to piss me off no end when i'd spend 10hrs doing a domestic job and they'd say can i just give you £50 and some rhubarb, and complain about a footprint on the carpet etc...
in the same time i could've moved a few isolators in a factory and earned £300

all these small bike shops started off doing the same - you got to start somewhere, plus you have the advantage of having worked for yourself before
You do not have to say anything. But it may harm your defence if you do not mention when posting something which you later rely on in quote. Anything you do say may be ripped to sh*t.
