It's a stupid trick and he's now paying the price. I bet there are loads of people out there who clean their chain in the same way-maybe they need to read that
He should have bought a Buell. He'd have still had his fingers then

didnt make such a good job of it though only lost the end of my index finger

A bike instructor I used to work with did this and lost the end of his thumb. He then used to show it as a training aid showing what not to do!!
