Best Mods For the VTR F1?

Post by Jacey Boy »

Just got me a nice Orange VTR1000F1, has Micron Race Cans and I was wondering if Dyno Jet and K&N Panel is the way to go to get some decent increase in power

Had the kit on my 99 Blade and made sod all difference for £200 so dont wana waste the money again.

What do you guys reckomend

In my opinion I'd sort out the suspension and make sure the brakes are in tip-top condition before trying to squeeze a mystical extra few horses out of the engine.

Hi Jacey
Are you sure they're race and not road? If they are race (and I'm not hinting you don't know) I would check to see if any carb work has been done. A race can normally has less backpresure and if the carbs haven't been ajdusted to match you will eventually burn your exhaust valves out.
If the work hasn't been done get it done quick!
If the carbs have been done don't worry and don't bother changing the jets to dyno jets cause the change from one manfacturer to another won't make much of a difference.
Save your money for some sexy extras.

BS markings on cans can sometimes just be manufacturing marks unrelated to sound legislation.

Mine dont have "Not For Road Use" stampted on them though but they are very loud just like race cans, remind me of my old ART Race cans when I had a VTR in 98

I'd agree with Al spend your money on the suspension and fit a 15 tooth front sprocket.

Jacey,

Just fitted a 15 tooth sprocket to mine and all of a sudden I seem to have a new bike!!!! The thing pulls like hell out of corners etc, try it you love it. I think that there has been a discussion about sprockets just before xmas and it seemed that it was preferable to up the back two teeth rather than put a smaller front. Which ever way you go you won't be dissapointed.

It would seem that the top end is reduced slightly but I think it's only by 5mph tops. not really worth worrying about.

They do sprocket etc.
