Shan't be doing the bike thingy this weekend. I've been working away and only just got back so the Mrs has got me on a tight reign untill she gets sick of me again
We'll have to do a little ride out or something as soon as it dries up.
How battered is the fairing I found a standard screen in the back of the garage which is no good to me now if you need it.

Absolutley love it m8 :D
The riding position on the SP is much better for me than the R1, never felt 100% happy with it. Don't get me wrong, the R1 was a cracking bike and had a lot of fun on it, but wasn't the bike for me.
Can't see myself going back to an IL4 for quite some time

Hiya

Post by Twinpotter »

OK, as recommended, I'm saying "Hiya".

I've a 98 storm (picked it up for a snip late May) and amongst the myriad reasons for choosing it, the sound had much to do with it. Since first hearing one in 99, I was sold. It rides beautifully too.

A courier through the eighties and early nineties, I've been on a few bikes, notably a CBX550/CBX750 (the latter battered cam chains but it really was a fine bike) and I worked on a VT500 - (those CX workhorses were just a bit too chunky for my liking) and it was a beauty, twin potted and torquey too. Having worked on a few bikes (from servicing to rebuilds), I know my way around bikes but it's been a while since I had to wash my hands with polychipped goo. So here I am, studying up.

Well, moving on, having decided to get the Storm, I checked it out and this board was very handy indeed. Not knowing if the CCT's had been changed (I did ask the previous owner who didn't know), the board came to the rescue. Pink dots - oh deary me. An order at Dave Silvers followed and before they turned up, clatter! Front pot sounded like a bag of spanners in a washing machine (don't try this at home).

So now we have some fair weather (and some time), I'm taking the thing apart (how else does one get to know the bike other than ride it?) to see what's what and to fit the CCT's.

But 'michty me' how can one get the timing out 180 degrees? (I think we could use a turn-the-flywheel interactive Flash movie that simulates the timing. I can code one, so all in due course I guess.)

Thanks to all that have posted their experiences and know how (and hat duly tipped at Sirch, who clearly knows his stuff), this board has been an invaluable resource.

And as you all are busting it around the roads (I hear a few from time to time), I hope it's not long before we pass one another - so if you see a silver Storm and a gun-metal Arai Astro, give a nod - as ye do.

And that was a long 'hiya'.

Best regards, Bob.

Welcome to the forum Bob,

Sounds like you'll also be an invaluable resource on all things bike.

Look forward to reading and replying to your posts.
