I agree with Alan

I was laughing at this ad, when it struck me that a very good mate of mine, who does excellent work on bikes and cars for little money, spell just like that.

He had an absolutely horrific upbringing.

I felt ashamed at my attitude

You lot should feel the same. I could do the same hatchet job on half the posts on this site, but at the moment I can't be arsed.

Think on

Droid and badger I take on board what you say but RELAX your English fine and in any case, if y'all decided to "Hatchet" posts on this site we would be laughing at ourselves with you.......

Can't take life and ourselves too seriously, must be able to laugh....

I think you'll find the problem is that some people DO take themselves too seriously.

Educational achievement is not always related to worth

And I will never relax when confronted with arrogance

Look, the simple fact is that people are becoming more and more dependent on computers, phone and other electronic shite, every has to be faster, faster, faster and is clear that it is effecting education and communication - Half my relations sms with all that shortened crap - it does me head in... god know what we'll be like in 20 years....

Good point, and as a teacher for 15 years I came across this regularly

I also came across kids who were trying their best to write on difficult concepts who didn't have the language to do so. So what did I do? Follow this site's example and take the piss?

That ad wasnt using sms-speak (unlike some of the 'humorous'repies here), it was badly spelt. So is that enough reason to take the piss?

Fact is, we're all better at some things than others, and if someone you DON'T know has done their best to write an ad, what the hell gives a bunch of 'intelligent' people the right to take the piss?

So next time you come on here and ask a question that others find simple, we can all mock, and you will feel good about that?

I think not....

Have a nice day, I'm off to renew my Prozac prescription.... :D

Badger - you made a very good point previously - about being a 'clever advert' - I wonder does he realise how much 'publicity' his ad is getting... Anyway, I reckon there was a good bit of sms-talk as well as bad spelling in there and that's all I'll say on the matter 8O

Just catching up here... Can't believe how far this is gone. I think this was intended as a rant about education, not a slang at the one particular guy who's ad was used as an example. Our education system (obviously world-wide) is failing us. It's not an indication of intelligence or anything of the like. Simply, people aren't being taught to use English correctly.

The thread isn't bagging one guy because he can't spell.
