I'm saying partners coz I know a lot of you are gay and girlfriend/wife wouldnt apply to you.

Me too. From Tamworth almost anywhere is possible.

End of October is 'off season' for many hotels, so a block booking of, say 30 peeps should attract a healthy discount...

Coastal town would be good. Suits all those coming over on ferries and has a good mix of everything from pubs, eateries and cheap b&b's.
