Engine Change

Post by benobenson »

G'Day There
I have an '05 with 96,000Kms on the clock and can obtain a low km engine from a '99. Are the two interchangeable, ie carbs, ecu, etc? Cheers. Beno

Yes, there's no engine differences to stop you changing the engine. I'd leave the carbs and ECU/wiring in place.
The carbs don't usually wear much (just check the needle jet hasn't worn oval) and the later ones have HISS so the ECU will be more problematic.
It's not falling off, it's an upgrade opportunity.

G'Day,

I'm guessing the '05 engine has had a hard life :?: as normally going on 96,000kms (which is approx. 60,000 miles) isn't high mileage for these big Vee twin engines,

Chris.
