Well you asked for another Ducati build
Re: Well you asked for another Ducati build
Been a good summer riding, its been a while since I posted
As i indicated a while ago, no bike building this winter due to house renovations, but I am looking around for a project... it may even be a big single Honda! so if anyone knows of a 650 air cooled single....
I was really pleased that our local bike meet photographer captured this shot!

Re: Well you asked for another Ducati build
thanks guys
I have been doing quite a few miles before I put the bike away for the winter and getting used to it. One thing that annoyed me was the feel of the front brake… It was quite soft and somehow just lacked the feel I have with the Ducati’s. I looked on Ebay and thought I would give one of these radial master cylinders a go. They are quite neat in that the adjuster alters the pivot point of the lever so you can adjust the lever ratio! much better feel now! So much so I have bought a similar but better designed one to try on the Ducati!

Re: Well you asked for another Ducati build
well its a while since I posted on this thread... I did quite a few miles on this build this year as its now the only bike I own with a dual seat after I sold my Harley V-ROD... My wife likes to ride pillion but the Harley just became too heavy for me to move around
However, I never liked the way the exhaust looked... so out came the welder and I made another... I am not keen on lobster cut bends so I have used some stainless mandrel bends, which are quite cheap and come in many angles. A tip when making exhausts is to temporarily hold things together with Jubilee clips, and if you slot a couple, you can tack through the slot which keeps things nicely aligned
No full bike build for me this year house renovations instead, but they are now almost complete... Happy wife, happy life

Looking good. I like the way if you're not happy with an exhaust you just knock up another one
If only it was that easy
Great tip with the Jubilee clip slot, thanks for sharing
Chris.

Re: Well you asked for another Ducati build
A custom build is never finished....
When I first built this bike I wanted an underslung silencer, which I did make… Unfortunately the bike ran like a bag of crap with it on, due to a silly design error i made in opposing the inlets from each cylinder into the silencer.. at 1/8 throttle, it ran rough. So this is MKll design!
I also wanted to put the British standard numbers on it, just in case the MOT man was in a bad mood… so I had some stencils made up and etched them on along with a Ducati logo. this is a very easy and simple process, here is a short video of how it’s done.

They do one with oval spamtin pistons that might benefit from a bit of improvement......
It's not falling off, it's an upgrade opportunity.
