Hello,
I got this charger a while back (pics below). When I had the bike at mechanics to change the brake discs I also asked him to connect it up but he said there was some bit missing to be able to do so.
What's the missing bit? (I can see on the box now that there's something meant to be between the charger and battery)
Thank you

It may be that your whole purpose in life is simply to serve as a warning to others.

Thaaaanks. No need for those dots at the end ;)
You know how the heated grips are usually wired to ignition so that they are never left on to drain the battery.
Would the phone charger pose such threat?

Re: Phone charger - I'm missing something
Not really as it would take a long time using your mobile phone attached to the bike's battery to significantly drain it.
Heated grips use a lot more electrictrickery hence why a switched relay is best used so it can't accidentally drain if left switched on.

Perfect. I will get what you said.

Question no.2
I got the missing piece and connected the coloured leads accordingly. It was charging the phone when the ignition was off. When I turned the ignition on, it would stop charging.
I would of course want the charger to work when the bike is on. Any ideas?

Re: Phone charger - I'm missing something
That makes no sense.
You connected the ring terminals direct to the battery?
When you turned the ignition off, did it start charging again? If not, fuse has popped.

It's not falling off, it's an upgrade opportunity.
Re: Phone charger - I'm missing something
Yes. It charges the phone when the ignition is OFF. If I turn ignition on, it stops charging. When I turn ignition off it starts charging the phone again.
edit: I got it sorted.

Re: Phone charger - I'm missing something
Can you take pics of the where you've attached the ring terminals onto the battery - positive and negative.
Have you anything else accessory wise connected to the battery? heated grips etc.

Re: Phone charger - I'm missing something
Sounds like something is feeding back through the system shorting it. If connected direct to the battery then that is a Permanent feed. Do you have anything else connected to the battery apart from the original Honda connections. You might need a diode or relay to control the current flow. Talking about diodes there is one at the end of the fusebox. Seems odd. Another explanation would be that the part is faulty. You could take the feed directly from the fusebox. IIRC there are spare connections under the fusebox for attaching accessories.
