That's a top tip with the shovel, I will give that a go

but hey, its still not that tricky,, whatever way you do it ! :D

well its been back in , and out and back in again ! had to come out because I somehow managed to mangle up the little anti-rattle (?) clip/spring :( .

it got quite bent but I have got it back in shape , sort of, but now cant get it in place ? time/enthusiasm was running out so I put it back together without it. at least I can get it down the road for its mot now on Friday which was why I needed a new tyre in the 1st place  .

I used a combination of the skirting board and macs strapp-on ,sorry I mean strapp up method

Retainer / rattle clip - Did you get down the road alright for the MOT without it flying apart?

If you need one I think I've got a spare

cheers wicky, I may need one ? mine is a little bent . can it be put in with the wheel in situ? .

Im not sure how much retaining it does? I don't think the pads can escape without it there but I do want it back in at some stage ?

IIRC the caliper needs unbolting as the pads are slotted into it on the bracket and it retains them from flopping about.

If it's got a bit out of shape can it straightened with a pair of pliers? I can swing over to Ipsywich say tomorrow if need a hand and the spare.

Edit - the spring clip I can find is the one that tucks into the caliper.

It's number 6 on that diagram Mac, and I have got it pretty much back in shape but sometimes unless things are exact they won't always fit I guess?. The kettles on wickY if you are about ! What time of day did you have in mind ? Cheers
