Current bike training seems quite good. If you've recently passed your test you are mostly up to a safe (ish) standard. The people who scare me are those who passed a test eons ago, haven't ridden for 20 or more years, then jump on a modern bike. Some are really shite.

Most of the people I've ridden with on here seem fairly keen to live another day (with the honourable exception...). Even so, advanced training can teach anyone new tricks. Keep clear of the IAM. In general it's rubbish and expensive to boot. Look for a local Roadar group. Part of Rospa. £20pa subs and as much observed riding as you want. A seriously difficult test which is only valid for 3 years. Highly recommended.

Wow, didn't know about the Roadar thingy! I'll look that one up. Never stop learning, so up for more training...

Look here:

http://www.roadar-northeast.org.uk/index.html

I've ridden with the Chairman, John Ennis, and he's amazing to watch (and try and keep up with).

They say they are over subscribed so you may want to try here:

http://www.roadartynedale.co.uk/

The website doesn't say much about the "riding" part as it's fairly new. But there are two very good tutors who are happy to meet people halfway. At the end of the Stamfordham road at Westerhope is a handy place. Slot an email to the Secretary.
