Timing help

Post by geeman22 »

i had a friend help me fit cam chain tensioner we started with the rear and changed it no problem when he stripped the front down which was the one that failed he removed the cams but due to how late it was we had to leave it till the next weekend but due to work commitments we never got round to it for a couple of weeks. But when he came back he couldn't remember if he set the front cams correctly before removing them. Is there a way I can check if the front is on the correct stroke so I can set the front timing correctly.

Yes, pop the rear cam cover off and turn the engine to the correct rear tdc, with cams pointing up and towards each other. Then rotate the engine one and a quarter turns anticlockwise and you will be in the correct place to set the front cams up.
It's not falling off, it's an upgrade opportunity.

.....With the cam lobes pointing up and away. The opposite to the rear.
