How do i remove plastic protector from fork ?

Post by Stepkevh »

Does anybody have an idea how to remove those plastic protectors on the forks ?

Have been fiddling with a flat screwdriver but dont want to do much damage.
And in case you wonder, i want them removed so that i'm able to repaint my forks properly :)

I use a piece of wood, something like a short piece of 2" X 1", then using a rubber mallet ( I'm sure any hammer will do ) knock them up a little bit at a time at each side of the protectors, the wood is the only thing that comes into contact with the plastic protector,

By the way, should you need some, Demon Tweaks have some that are split vertically and wrap round the fork and are then held on with a clamp, so you can add them without taking the fork off.
Useful in case yours are damaged or grubby.
It's not falling off, it's an upgrade opportunity.
