Commuter - VanVan or TW125?
Commuter - VanVan or TW125?
Going to drop the company car later this month for tax reasons. The station is around 4 miles away, I could use the mountain bike but the roads round here are deadly. I need a cheap, almost throw away, commuter bike and don't want a scooter. Should I go for a Suzuki RV125 VanVan or a Yamaha TW125 Trailway? I'd like a trail bike but being "vertically challenged" they don't suit me. I might even go for a C90, had one in Bermuda and that thing never missed a beat and was cheaper than chips to run.
I'm so unlucky that if there is such a thing as re-incarnation I'll come back as me!

Get a Pedelec - cheap to run as no tax or mot - no sweat cycling
I recommend the KTMs

Look good mate, but unless they're capable of 50mph every trip would be like a game of frogger. No cycle path, unlit and very dodgy ,I walked the route last week and really didn't fancy cycling it.

If it's just being used for that journey I think I would go with the C90, top box to stash your lid etc, fill the tank once a month....
My bike wants a new home

Re: Commuter - VanVan or TW125?
Yep, looking that way. Less likely to get nicked and I won't care so long as insurance pays out. Bulletproof, 120mpg and cheap tyres - thanks guys, the Chicken it is.

Re: Commuter - VanVan or TW125?
Both bikes are good for what they do, tyres are expensive but they do last a good while, the TW will be cheaper to buy, VanVan's fetch far more for similar condition.

Buy one of them new £1000 Chinese 125 .

van van has rear wheel issues, they are too wide for the diameter and the spokes are at too much of an angle. they wear badly then start to break.
c90 ftw!

Tho they are getting better and better with every generation they make but are still only made to last 3 years
Re: Commuter - VanVan or TW125?
I had a cheap Chinese trail bike I got off ebay only 2 years old, I spent more on loctite and replacement nuts & bolts than I did on fuel
